Here we go again ... Punctual and pleasant as the quaternary fever, sometimes even those who seem lost in the mists come back! I know I should talk about other things (such as Dublin) Irish but my friends if they have, because I found a bit of inspiration and the first steps that I wanted to try to knock out a decent post. Great news then, we'll talk about music!
feel that I've been to Rosano (Bagno a Ripoli - FI), a group that I had already had the honor and the opportunity to follow on another date almost by chance: The Old Boiler Band. Before you throw me headlong in praise, I wanted to share some of my experiences.
As I said, our first meeting took place during a contest called bell rock, where I attended the teacher down. Among the groups that competed, there were notes the OBB. Now, as we know, there are four things that make me especially smattare: aircraft of World War II (this is not the case), books in general (even this), pretty low (and them there was someone cute , including that of my teacher:) and the film of Blues Brothers.
Well, imagine my reaction when I hear come to my disbelief ears the first notes of "She Caught The Katy! Wonder of wonders! If we join with the beauty of this bass and also the perfection of execution, you will understand that I was one step away from heart. Those four tracks ran away with the wind speed, and I with the pointed ears and glossy Occhini did not miss a move, a hint of what was happening around me ... After the concert, then I had the opportunity to chat with singer-guitarist, but that was all, at least the first act ... A few days later, in fact, hanging out on the internet, I came across their myspace and find happiness with that on Saturday they played in a local pub. Take cabins and puppets and party. Now I can describe what happened.
The concert was beautiful and very long, more than two hours, but as time passed it seemed really fast. The OBB play rock-blues, and next to tracks by artists that I knew (JJ Cale, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Beatles, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis), there were many other little-known artists (for me of course!). All the songs are rearranged by the group in an impeccable way. The technique, at least from my humble point of view, close to perfection, with a nice walking bass that made me jump the heart with each note.
The great thing about these concerts is also the fact that in the end you can always chat with the band (which I have to say really available). From this meeting came out of that:
1) blues music is virtually unknown to most of my peers. This is a real pity, because in the end is the least common denominator to many genres of music today, like rock and all its subgenres (from classic rock to metal). The blues is a music only for "insiders" that is reserved only for musicians or those who understand music and music is also not a sad or whining as usually believed. They are emotions, feelings, joys and sorrows that impressed inextricably simple structure, but so difficult to execute well. The discouraging thing was seeing the desert and semi-public the guys outside waiting for the start of the "Music" disc.
2) Even for those who play thrash-metal, there is hope, one day, found a rock-blues group.
3) One day the group will build a rock-blues!
Ps I appeal directly to the Old Boiler Band, in case they read this post ... On behalf of the Directorate also expect a nice cover of Rory Gallagher!
