Pistoia Blues 2008 and beyond ...
Hello everyone!
I'm back by the latest weekly concert, the fourth to be precise, and of course I want to share with you my immense joy! First because, among the four concerts sopramensionati , two I was the protagonist in the first person with my group, Chaos Theory , which eventually began earning a great second place now. Nothing to fault, groups that have dealt with were all really well prepared. Eventually they checked the Funk Totum (imagine what kind they play on!), Followed precisely by us (usually Trash Metal, highly recommended for a celebration of unity!) And the Punk-Rock of Raul Duke, and then drops to the Folk-Rock's Guest ... Truly a fantastic experience, especially because I had the opportunity to meet many musicians really smart, and then also because the first live never forget ...
However, let's go. Last night I finished the marathon musical in Pistoia in the company of the mythical, unreachable, exciting, loving, infallible Deep Purple ! It is they, those who wrote Smoke On The Water! Arriving in Piazza di Pistoia
at six o'clock. Quick search for a place to refuel and then head directly to the streets to the rhythm Rock! Surrenders that the square is still half empty, although early in the afternoon groups are playing more or less blues. We camped about twenty meters from the stage, waiting in religious ...
about 21:00 pm. On stage, the legendary salt Tommy Emmanuel , one of the greatest contemporary guitarists. See him play What is a spectacular and disturbing at the same time ... On the one hand because leaves you open-mouthed see and hear what he can do with a guitar in hand, on the other because your self-esteem music, maybe just relieved from having learned the piece of low Smoke On The Water (maybe at the beginning you think too hard) and felt terribly ...
Performs a dozen songs, each time delighting the audience with something new ... Once you use the guitar as a kind of bongo , again playing the strings in the blade (!)... The end of her concert sees me and my bass teacher discuss the possibility whether or not she can get sound from the shoulder strap also ...
about 22:45 pm. There is tension in the air and even a bit ' nervous. Standing five hours in the heat in the midst of so many people would undermine the 'spirit also of the saints, let alone a group of rowdy waiting for Purple ... And they do not arrive ...
11:00 am. The music goes off and the lights come on. The crowd begins to roar ... From the top of my two feet and four I see the stage perfectly, as well as the unmistakable glint of a flash of a bass that you adjust, and a bandana silver color. "Oh my God" I think "but that's Dad Glover." A moment of silence along the esplanade, then burst into a loud roar just Ian Gillan and members make their entrance on stage! Absolute panic ... For a minute you do not hear nothing but screaming, clapping and shouts of joy attached. Then it all begins ... Some stroke tom and bass drum announcing the 'intro of Picture Of Home , and I almost weep with emotion! How nice! After three minutes exactly why I begin to tremble know what is going to happen. I take my girlfriend in the neck, so that she can see (sorry a little for those behind me ...) and began to scream like a banshee "look Roger !. "Fifteen seconds after you hear the unmistakable leap octaves lower ... Beautiful!
A thunderous applause seals the end of the first track. But the show must go on! We move to The thing i never Said , then passed to a song included on their first album, Into the Fire . And many other songs that I can not describe for lack of time and space (especially sleep!) to arrive at a final really crackling. Just mention the last five songs: Space Trucking , Highway Star, Smoke On The Water and the encore with Hush and Black Night! How could I describe the emotions during these songs? Highway Star I sung (off-key as I find myself) start to finish and, not content, I also dubbed a "po-po" the riff of the solo keyboard and guitar. Just heard the first chords of Smoke On The Water came down the world! What a sight, I could not believe it! How many times I heard the remake by the most desperate groups, at first I thought "could not miss Smoke On The Water of Deep Purple ?". Then I realized that they were the Deep Purple ! Final with palpitations Black Night and in the midst of another nice solo bass Glover.
1:20 pm. Let's go back to the car. We all four exhausted but happy. Reassure the driver that will make him company during the return journey. Twenty seconds after the collapse and fall asleep, waking at the exit of Valdarno around 2:30 ...
short, despite the absence of Lazy (something we hoped) and Ian Gillan's voice that sometimes lacking (well has sixty-three years!) Has really been a fabulous gig ... From real-Rock Star!!
bonjo
